Memorial

Pamela Leigh Walton of Carlisle, Kentucky and formerly of Harrodsburg was not finished living her life when it ended abruptly in 1988.

She was murdered and left on the side of the roadway of County Road 474 in Clermont, Lake County, Florida near the border of Polk County.

She tragically remained unidentified for 37 years as she was not known to be reported missing from her home state of Kentucky. Previously

nicknamed "Julie Doe", on March 10, 2025 she was announced to have been identified as Pamela Leigh Walton. After years of research going

through adoption records and distant family ties, experts traced Walton’s lineage to Kentucky, where she was born.

Pamela Leigh Walton was born on May 13th, 1963 in Kentucky. She was given up for adoption around the age of 5 and adopted by Estill and Leona

Walton in rural Carlisle, Kentucky outside of Lexington. While attending Nicholas County High School, she faced significant bullying and

harassment but was part of her school band. After graduating in 1981, she began her transition and received a breast augmentation around 1983.

Due to the conservative culture of Kentucky in the 1980s, Pamela likely struggled with discrimination and targeted harassment due to her being

a trans woman. In April 1988, she was arrested for cannabis possession, and in July 1988, she was arrested for solicitation but was later reduced

to loitering. She had not been heard from after, and it is not known how she ended up in Florida.

If you knew Pamela or are a family member of hers, please feel free to reach out at pamelawaltonmemorial@proton.me if you can assist in giving tips

about the investigation into her murder, have any thoughts you want to share about her, or how you think she would have liked to be memorialized.
